RM Racing Team: The Story
The Runners Market Race Team was established in 1999 by Dave Nelson and RM owner, Kevin Pack. The purpose was to bring together the spirit of competitiveness and the passion for racing by a local group of runners. Since the team's creation, other area running teams have emerged to form a competitive racing team series as part of the Knoxville Track Club's yearly Grand Prix. Runners Market has won the Eddie Raymond Cup in 2004, 2005, and 2006, which goes to the team who accumulates the most points throughout the season.
Today the Big Red Machine, as the team has been nicknamed, has an active roster of 35 dedicated male and female post-collegiate and masters runners who compete in local road races, regional track and cross-country meets and nationally acclaimed events. Runners Market and Asics are the sponsors of the team.
